Each ml contains 84 mg (1 mEq/ml) Sodium bicarbonate. Sodium Bicarbonate
INDICATIONS:
84 mg
For the treatment metabolic acidosis caused by several (1 mEq/ml)
factors in cattle, horses, sheep, goats and dogs.
USAGE AND DOSAGE:
Unless otherwise is not recommended by veterinarians;
For slow intravenous use. The concentration of the solution is determined according to the condition
of animal and requirements, and concentrations can be used undiluted (8.4%) or isotonic (1.5%). The
amount of bicarbonate to be given over a 4 to 8 hours period is approximately 2 to 5 mEq per kg of
body weight (2-5 mL/kg body weight) depending upon
the severity of the acidosis as judged by the lowering of total CO2 content, blood pH and clinical
condition of the animal. If the plasma CO2 content is unknown, an average dose of 2 ml/kg body
weight Karbomin Solution for Infusion can be administered in 5% dextrose, isotonic saline or a
suitable solution. Treatment is continued with isotonic (1.5%) dilution rate. Completion of therapy is
dependent upon the clinical response of the animal. If severe symptoms have abated, then frequency
of administration and amount of the dose should be reduced.
PRESENTATION: It is presented in vials of 20 ml and 100 ml.
